Resuming
After taking a few months off, the HeartSong Chorale is once again gearing up for auditions to fill the vacant positions for our new season. While having benefited immensely from our time spent together in 2011, there will be some interesting changes as we move forward in 2012. It’s a bit early to explain all the details at this time, but suffice it to say, the Chorale will aspire to a new level of professionalism. As soon as the new audition times and locations have been established, it will be posted in this blog. We are also under construction of our own website – which should be completed within a couple months. Stay tuned.

Our New Rehearsal Home
We had our first rehearsal in our new rehearsal space this past week, and we're looking forward to a long and creative relationship with our new host organization!
Villa Musica is a community music center in Sorrento Valley. It's a wonderful facility - with a lovely recital hall and a number of practice/lesson rooms. While we're small, we'll be rehearsing in one of the practice rooms, but the hope is we'll get to our full 20 singers soon, and then rehearsals will be held in the recital hall.
Equally as important as the great space and location, this is an organization of musicians dedicated to expanding musical opportunities for the community. There's an incredible array of talent - for performing, for teaching, for sharing the joy that is music. They already have a community choir, but it is specifically geared toward secular music, so we're hoping our participation as a sacred choir will expand the singing opportunities into a new area.
Next Wednesday, I promise to take a picture to post.
In the meantime, we still have a few needs.
First and foremost, we need MEN! Looks like we have 6 women, and we'd like to get that to 10, but we have no male singers. SSA music can be lovely, but our goal is to be a full SATB choir. If you're reading this, and you're a guy, and you read music and love to sing sacred choral music, please contact Carl ASAP! If you're reading this and you know a guy who fits that category, please share this information with him.
Second, and not required, but sure would be nice, although our intent is to do much of our work a capella, it would be wonderful to have a good accompanist for rehearsals, especially while we are so small. So if you know any good pianists who might be interested in helping us out, please let us know.

Auditions Continue
The quality of participants for the first two audition sessions was really very good. I'm most confident that 20 qualified musicians will be found very shortly to fill out the ranks. As soon as arrangements are made for an additional audition or two are made, news of it will be listed on this blog. Please stay tuned - and spread the word. If anyone has questions, please email heartsong.chorale@gmail.com.

In the beginning...
During the second week of January, 2011, auditions will be held for participation in the HeartSong Chorale. This is a 20 member vocal ensemble attracting musicians of any religious background who have vocal/choral training in the San Diego area. The repertoire concentrates on the ageless, classical, sacred choral works of the “Masters” – works rarely performed in many church settings today.
Our purpose is two-fold. First, to provide an opportunity for musicians interested in singing the pure choral sounds of the “classical” style – and second to inspire congregants of all faiths with this magnificent music.
The exact dates and time of auditions have not as yet been determined. As soon as this determination has been made, there will be notifications on this blog.
Please spread the word – and tell anyone you think may be interest in coming to auditions. Email a request for additional details to HeartSong.Chorale@gmail.com.
